Sportscape Education to deliver apprenticeship programme in partnership with Sports Coaching Group
Sportscape Education has confirmed it will deliver a new apprenticeship programme on behalf of its sister organisation, Sports Coaching Group, as part of a continued commitment to developing the next generation of coaching professionals.
Sports Coaching Group is looking to hire a number of coaches who will study on the the Level 2 Community Activator Coach as part of their apprenticeship.
The programme will provide learners with a structured introduction to the sport and physical activity sector, combining academic study with practical, on-the-job experience.
It will be overseen and delivered by Sportscape Education, drawing on its expertise in vocational learning and coach development.
Based in Cheshire, Sports Coaching Group works with schools across the north west, delivering physical education, extra-curricular activities, swimming provision and wellbeing programmes.
The organisation also operates holiday clubs during school breaks, offering a range of sport-specific and multi-sport activities for children.
The apprenticeship has been designed as a practical pathway into employment, typically running over 14 to 18 months.
Learners will complete a combination of coursework, assessments and practical observations, while gaining real-world experience in a variety of coaching environments.
Throughout the programme, apprentices will be supported by experienced tutors from Sportscape Education, alongside coaching staff within Sports Coaching Group.
This dual approach is intended to ensure participants develop both the theoretical knowledge and applied skills required for a career in the industry.
The initiative also reflects a shared commitment between the two organisations to widening access to sport and education.
By creating accessible entry routes into coaching, the programme aims to support individuals in developing key life skills while contributing to inclusive participation opportunities for young people.
Applications for the apprenticeship are currently open, with the recruitment process set to conclude at the end of May.
Open interview and engagement sessions are scheduled to take place in June, with final decisions expected shortly afterwards.
The partnership highlights an ongoing focus on workforce development within the sport and education sectors, providing a clear progression route for those looking to establish a career in coaching.
