Become an apprentice with Sportscape Education

At Sportscape Education we are committed to providing high-quality training to support your chosen area of interest. You will receive tutor support and on-the-job experience during your apprenticeship course.

In March 2023 Sportscape Education was subject to a full 3-day Ofsted inspection where we were graded ‘Good’ in all areas including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and apprenticeships. We are very proud of this achievement and will strive to better this performance to ensure all learners get the best possible experience.

  • Apprenticeships are becoming more and more popular because they offer on the job experience as well as a qualification whilst getting paid. Apprenticeships are a good stepping stone into industries to create progression into a career path that you love!

  • As a learner, you will need to find a employer (company) who will employ you as a apprentice. Sportscape Education can deliver the educational sessions and training for you!

  • You have to be aged 16 or over to start an apprenticeship. There is no maximum age to start an apprenticeship.

  • Sportscape Education offer a variety of apprenticeships, specialising in sports and outdoor training. These include:

    • Level 2 Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship

    • Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer Apprenticeship

    • Level 3 Outdoor Activity Instructor Apprenticeship

    • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

    • Level 3 Personal Training Apprenticeship

    • Level 4 Sports Coach

    • Level 5 Outdoor Learning Specialist Apprenticeship

  • This depends which apprenticeship you are thinking of doing.

    In terms of GCSE qualifications, if you have not achieved a grade 4 in Math’s and English - don’t worry, for most apprenticeships we can help you achieve what you require via our functional skills programme. Experience and qualifications are essential for some apprenticeships, please get in touch to discuss your specific needs here.

  • As an apprentice you are expected to work for 30 hours per week. These hours will incorporate your study time.

    As an apprentice, 20% of your working hours will be off-the-job training. This can include:

    • Lectures

    • Role playing

    • Simulation exercises

    • Management games

    • Watching Lectures or Seminars

    • Shadowing somebody else in a similar job role

    • Receiving Mentoring from someone above you E.G. Your manager.

    • Online Learning

    • Writing assignments or doing assessments.

    • Attending Sportscape Educations Life Skills programme.

    Sportscape Education will provide a delivery calendar at the start of your apprenticeship with the dates and times you will see your tutor. We recommend his will be at least one full day per month, with additional tasks set between sessions.

  • Most apprenticeships will take a minimum of 12 months to complete. Find out more specific information here.

  • Your employer will be responsible for paying your wage. You should receive a contract which states your rate of pay at the start of your employment.

    Your wage will depend on your age and duration of your apprenticeship.
