Sportscape Education: Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer apprentices learn vital safeguarding skills during training day
Safeguarding took centre stage when Sportscape Education's Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer apprentices came together for a dedicated training day.
The session reinforced one of the most important responsibilities facing anyone working within sport, health and community settings, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of every individual they work with.
Throughout the day, apprentices explored the fundamental principles of safeguarding, child protection and working with vulnerable adults, all of which form a key part of the Community Sport and Health Officer apprenticeship standard.
The training highlighted the importance of recognising concerns, understanding reporting procedures and knowing how to respond appropriately when safeguarding issues arise.
Learners were guided through a range of real-life scenarios designed to help them develop confidence in identifying potential risks and understanding the correct actions to take.
Discussions focused on the importance of following safeguarding procedures accurately, maintaining professional boundaries and ensuring concerns are reported through the correct channels.
For apprentices who are already delivering activities within schools, community groups and sports settings, safeguarding knowledge is essential.
Community Sport and Health Officers play a vital role in engaging people in sport and physical activity while creating safe, inclusive and supportive environments for participants of all ages and backgrounds.
The training day also provided an opportunity for apprentices to share experiences from their workplaces, discuss best practice and learn from one another under the guidance of Sportscape Education tutors.
At Sportscape Education, safeguarding remains a priority across all programmes.
By equipping apprentices with the knowledge, skills and confidence to follow correct safeguarding procedures, we are helping to develop responsible professionals who can make a positive impact within their communities while ensuring the welfare of those they support.
