Level 3 CHSO coaching apprenticeships: Tracking progress and supporting learner success at Sportscape Education

Sportscape Education continues to deliver high-quality apprenticeship provision through its Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer (CSHO) programme, an initiative designed to develop the next generation of professionals working across sport, health and community settings.

The CSHO apprenticeship equips learners with the skills and knowledge to plan and deliver inclusive physical activity sessions, promote healthy lifestyles, and engage communities in sport and wellbeing initiatives.

Apprentices often work in schools, community organisations, and sports foundations, making a real difference by increasing participation and improving health outcomes.

As part of this ongoing development, Head of Education Millie Jones recently visited Port Vale Foundation to carry out scheduled progress reviews with learners.

These reviews take place every 10–12 weeks and are a vital part of the programme, bringing together the apprentice, employer and training provider to reflect on progress, review targets, and ensure everyone remains aligned.

This structured approach allows learners to stay on track while receiving tailored support, helping them build confidence in both their practical delivery and theoretical understanding.

Alongside these reviews, learners also took part in a dedicated Level 3 CSHO apprenticeship day.

These sessions are designed to enhance knowledge, develop key skills such as session planning and community engagement, and encourage collaboration between peers.

They provide valuable time away from the workplace to focus on personal and professional growth.

By combining hands-on experience, regular progress reviews and targeted training days, Sportscape Education ensures apprentices receive a well-rounded and impactful learning journey, preparing them for long-term careers in sport, health and community development.
