Who said learning had to be boring? Cracking the Funding Code at Our Level 2 Community Activator Coach Learning Day

Our recent Level 2 Community Activator Coach learning day took a different approach, transforming the classroom into an escape room challenge. The mission? Work together to crack five codes, and put recent learning about funding into practice.

Funding was the focus of a recent learning day when our Level 2 Community Activator Coach apprentices came together to explore one of the key areas that supports the delivery of successful community sport and physical activity projects.

The session provided apprentices with the opportunity to develop their understanding of funding, exploring how different opportunities can help bring community initiatives to life and support greater engagement in sport and physical activity.

Throughout the day, apprentices covered key funding principles, including identifying suitable funding opportunities, understanding requirements and recognising the importance of creating strong applications that demonstrate community impact.

To bring their learning to life, apprentices took part in an interactive escape room challenge, designed around their recent funding topic. Working in teams, learners were tasked with cracking five codes, each linked to different areas of their knowledge and understanding.

The activity encouraged apprentices to communicate effectively, share ideas and apply what they had learned in a fun and engaging environment. Each challenge required teamwork, problem solving and critical thinking to unlock the next stage and successfully complete the task.

The session highlighted the importance of understanding how funding can support community projects, remove barriers to participation and create opportunities for people to become more active.

For Community Activator Coaches, having the confidence to identify and understand funding opportunities is an important skill. The ability to recognise potential sources of support can help strengthen projects and increase their positive impact within local communities.
