A Day in the Life of a Sportscape Education Level 4 Sports Coach Apprentice | National Apprenticeship Week 2026
As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2026, Sportscape Education is proud to showcase what an apprenticeship really looks like in action.
This week, we shone a spotlight on Charlie, who is currently completing his Level 4 Sports Coach Apprenticeship with us, while working as an apprentice with Sports Coaching Group.
Charlie’s journey perfectly reflects what apprenticeships are designed to achieve, combining high-quality academic learning with meaningful, hands-on industry experience.
What does a Level 4 Sports Coach apprentice do?
For Charlie, no two days are the same. His role includes planning and delivering engaging coaching sessions, supporting young people to develop their skills and confidence, and working alongside experienced professionals to refine his coaching practice.
Beyond the practical delivery of sport, Charlie is continually developing key professional skills including:
Leadership and communication;
Session planning and evaluation';
Adaptability in different coaching environments;
Safeguarding and professional standards;
Reflective practice to improve performance.
The Level 4 Sports Coach Apprenticeship goes far beyond simply coaching sport.
It equips apprentices with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to positively impact young people through physical activity while building a long-term career in the sport and education sector.
Learning in the Workplace
One of the greatest strengths of an apprenticeship is the ability to earn while gaining real-world experience.
Charlie is applying his learning immediately within Sports Coaching Group, allowing him to grow both personally and professionally in a supportive environment.
At Sportscape Education, we are passionate about helping apprentices thrive in real working environments.
By combining structured learning with on-the-job development, we ensure our apprentices are prepared for sustainable careers in sport.
Well done Charlie, we are proud to support your journey…and you look like a decent chef, your food looks great!
If you are an employer looking to develop your workforce, or an individual considering a career in sport, a Sports Coach Apprenticeship could be your next step.
