Empowering tutors through CPD: How Sportscape Education is strengthening SEND support and inclusive practice

At Sportscape Education, we’re committed to ensuring our tutors have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to support every learner. 🙌

Recently, our team took part in a SEND-focused CPD session led by our in-house specialist, Laura Ackerley.

It was designed to strengthen tutors’ understanding of how to support learners with additional needs across our education and apprenticeship programmes.

The session explored the four key areas of need within SEND, helping staff deepen their knowledge of the different challenges learners may face.

Laura also guided the team through the core legislation and statutory guidance that underpin inclusive education - providing essential context for how schools and training providers can best meet the needs of all learners.

A significant part of the session focused on ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) -areas that our tutors are encountering more frequently within their sessions.

The training offered valuable insight into how to adapt teaching approaches, create supportive environments, and ensure that learning remains accessible and engaging for everyone.

The discussion was both practical and empowering, giving staff fresh ideas to apply in their lessons and a renewed sense of confidence in delivering inclusive, high-quality education.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) like this is vital to the work we do at Sportscape Education.

By investing in our team, we’re not only enhancing teaching practice but also ensuring that every apprentice has the opportunity to thrive.
