Sportscape Education delivers 1st4Sport Level 1 Activators course at Port Vale with Staffordshire FA

At Sportscape Education, we are passionate about using sport as a vehicle to create opportunity, develop leaders, and strengthen communities.

Last week, that vision was brought to life at Port Vale Football Club, where our tutor Leigh Owens successfully delivered the 1st4Sport Level One Award for Activators (Multi-Skills).

The course formed part of the Active Through Football Stoke Event, delivered in collaboration with Staffordshire FA, and it proved to be a fantastic day of learning and growth.

Nine learners of different ages and backgrounds came together with a shared desire to gain new skills and take their first steps in sports leadership.

What stood out most was the diversity of experiences in the room.

Among the group were individuals looking to change professions, with this course acting as the very first step in that journey.

Others brought prior involvement in sport, eager to expand their knowledge and contribute more effectively within their communities.

This mix of aspirations and perspectives created a vibrant learning environment where everyone could share, support, and grow together.

The Level 1 Activators Award is more than just a qualification.

It is designed to build confidence, provide practical tools, and encourage inclusive practice.

By the end of the course, learners leave with the knowledge and skills to support and lead engaging activities that welcome all participants, regardless of ability or background.

Events such as this are central to what we do at Sportscape Education and our parent company, EMPHASIS Foundation Community Interest Company.

We believe strongly in providing accessible pathways into sport, supporting the development of future coaches, and empowering people to make a real difference in their communities.

A huge thank you goes to Port Vale Football Club for hosting and to Staffordshire FA for their collaboration.

And of course, to Leigh, whose expertise and enthusiasm ensured every learner gained confidence and practical skills they can take forward.
