National Dyslexia Awareness Week 2025: How Sportscape Education pupports neurodiverse learners
This seems the ideal time to shine a light on the strengths, challenges, and support needed by people with dyslexia.
This week, Monday, October 6 to Sunday, October 12, marks National Dyslexia Awareness Week, a moment to highlight the strengths, challenges, and support needed by people with dyslexia.
At Sportscape Education, we believe that every learner deserves a pathway to success - and that means adapting how we teach, not forcing students to adapt to inflexible systems.
During this week, and always, our commitment is to provide the tools, understanding, and environment that empower everyone to learn with confidence.
Dyslexia is a common learning difference that affects reading, spelling and writing skills in diverse ways - but it does not define intelligence or potential.
Many learners with dyslexia excel with creativity, visual thinking, problem-solving, and spatial awareness - attributes that often serve them well in sports, coaching, and leadership contexts.
Here’s how Sportscape Education supports neurodiverse learners:
Tailored learning approaches: We work with tutors to modify delivery methods, giving more visual aids, breaking tasks into manageable chunks, handing over structured summaries, and offering ideas in multiple formats (text, diagrams, verbal);
Additional support sessions: Learners can access extra guided support sessions, small-group or one-to-one, to revisit concepts, practise at their own pace or ask questions in a low-pressure setting;
Assistive tools and resources: We encourage the use of dyslexia-friendly fonts, overlays, speech-to-text software, audio recordings, and other assistive technology where helpful;
A supportive culture: Every learner is treated with dignity and respect; tutors strive to respond to individual needs, keep open communication channels, and adjust as they learn what works best.
Being part of EMPHASIS CIC strengthens our ability to resource this within a broader framework of inclusive education and community engagement.
During National Dyslexia Awareness Week, we celebrate the resilience and potential of learners with dyslexia.
